About NAHFO
The National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers (NAHFO) is the recognised national voice for fire safety professionals across UK healthcare estates. For over 30 years, NAHFO has worked with NHS Trusts, private hospitals, and care providers to raise standards, share best practice, and support those who keep the UK’s most complex environments safe.
With 13 regional branches and a National Executive Committee, NAHFO brings together professionals responsible for protecting lives and infrastructure across over 930 NHS hospitals and healthcare settings.
NAHFO (National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers) is open to all professionals in NHS and private healthcare settings who hold responsibility for fire safety, including those who work within fire safety with responsibilities for promoting fire safety in healthcare settings. Its objectives are to:
- Promote the highest standards of fire safety in healthcare premises
- Improve career pathways and recognition for healthcare fire safety professionals
- Provide training, support, and a platform for sharing best practice
- Liaise with key fire and safety bodies across the UK
Our members include NHS Fire Safety Managers, Local Authority Fire Officers, and private healthcare professionals with fire responsibilities. Many have been instrumental in shaping the very guidance used by healthcare estates today.
